The Shorten mode reversibly encodes the URL rather than hosting a real public short link — a true shortener needs a database and a permanent redirect server, which WeVivid's free, no-login tools don't run. It's useful for reversibly compacting a link for your own reference, not for sharing as a live redirect.
It follows the URL's actual HTTP redirect chain through a small WeVivid server endpoint (the same one behind the Redirect Checker tool), showing every hop until it reaches the final destination.
