It uses the Web Crypto API's getRandomValues, a cryptographically secure random number generator — not Math.random(), which isn't safe for security-sensitive values. Each character is picked independently from your chosen character set.
No — it's generated and shown entirely in your browser, and never leaves your device or gets logged anywhere.
Characters like I, l, 1, O and 0 can look identical in some fonts, which makes a password harder to type correctly from memory or a handwritten note. Excluding them trades a little randomness for fewer typos.
